Human beings believe themselves to be the most intelligent and evolved of all sentient species living on earth, in the air and in the water.
Yet it is the human species that is the most destructive of all.
What's more, it's the only one to develop pride, vanity, malice, jealousy, greed and many other faults of which it isn't even aware.
It's not just dolphins and elephants that are endowed with consciousness and intelligence.
All beings different from him live in a dimension to which man has no access through language, knowledge, experience or wisdom, however profound.
Some Buddhist traditions claim that animals are reincarnations of bad people who have committed crimes. What nonsense and what imagination! How can anyone carry so much stupidity in their mind?
If all existences possess Buddha Nature, then what fundamental difference is there between the animal kingdom and the egocentric super-kingdom of humans?
Do the animals of the three spheres, earth-sky-water, need a smartphone to live? Do they need a bank account, a car, a plane, a washing machine and so on?
For four centuries, the English hunted down the Indian nations who were living in peace.
For these Englishmen who had become Americans, the natives were nothing but animals, savages who had to be either transformed into good Christians or exterminated. That was exactly what they said.
So I ask the question: Who was the wilder of the two: the exterminating white man or the native?
Then, all those who were not exterminated, all those whose land was stolen, were parked in reserves, reserves which still exist at the time of writing.
If what some Buddhists claim were true, these human monsters would have to be reborn in the skin of an animal to pay for their misdeeds. In reality, this rebirth would not be a punishment but a liberation.
No human being can be reborn in animal form, except perhaps the person who would defend this thesis.
Imagine a Stalin or a Hitler taking the form of a deer as punishment?
We must look after our brothers and sisters, whatever their shape or size.
To do this, we need to open our hearts to all living things. And even if it's a stone, we must respect it in the same way as our dress, our Kesa or our sandals.
Some people think I'm being sentimental. But none of these thinkers would want a giant to take their precious lives.
Nobody wants to be tortured or killed. The same goes for the smallest insect. They too are in search of happiness and have a right to life, just as we do.
What is intelligence? What is wisdom? Where does intelligence begin and wisdom end?
These are simply discriminatory notions.
If people stopped categorising and hiding behind truths, if they destroyed their points of reference by laying themselves bare and opening the whole of their heart, then they would become men.
After all, what is a man as men imagine him? Just 80 kg of meat, flesh, hair and blood. Doesn't that sound like an animal?
Why should we give ourselves so much importance?
When death comes, all this matter and all this consciousness will crumble into dust.
What's the point, then, of making such a fuss about human beings? Who do they think they are?
So I pity with all my heart the blind people who think that death is the end of everything and that we should therefore make the most of life.
I also feel sorry for those who think that death does not exist and who do nothing to free themselves from their past memories.
Finally, I pity humanity as a whole for being so vain, so proud and so self-centred.
You can't escape your memory or your actions, because memory is eternal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I urge you to listen less to your head and more to your heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
