The solitary man walks with his eyes wide open, depends on no one and remains true to himself. The Way is above all about knowing how to live and how to die. The solitary man is responsible for his thoughts, words and actions. No one can breathe for him. There is no one above him and no one below him. There is nothing and no one to worship, no ideology. Do not seek or imagine any Buddha, any heavenly state, any merit, any enlightenment or any reward whatsoever.
When one is sincere in one's breathing and posture, one is sincere in all things. When you are true, breathing, you are true in your thoughts, words and actions. Without practice, all spirituality is nothing but a dream, an illusion and a mental projection. This posture is neither Zen, Buddhist nor Christian. It is the liberation of everything that has been so carefully locked away in the habits of this body. It is silent and selfless contemplation.
Being a monk does not mean that you have to belong to a religion. It is a matter between Buddha and Buddha, between one person and another. Do not be trapped in old images of a rigid past. Simply move forward by actualising your awakened nature.
